GroundTech has partnered with Suffolk FA for the football season to provide innovative robotic solutions for football pitch maintenance.
Exclusive Discounts & Funding for Suffolk FA Clubs
Clubs affiliated with Suffolk FA can now benefit from a 10% discount on the purchase of a robotic mower, with up to 75% funding available through the Football Foundation. Additionally, clubs can receive a 10% discount on professional line marking services.
Why Choose a Robotic Mower for Your Football Pitch?
Maintaining a football pitch requires significant time and effort. On average, it takes around five hours per week to mow a full-size pitch. While a robotic mower operates for several hours, the benefits are clear:
- No soil compaction – preventing damage to the playing surface.
- All-weather operation – works efficiently regardless of conditions.
- Increased grass density – promotes healthier, thicker turf.
- Weed suppression – due to frequent, fine-cut mowing.

Professional Line Marking Services
Initial pitch marking is a time-intensive task, often taking around six hours for two people when done manually. GroundTech provides professional robotic line marking services, ensuring:
- Precision within 2cm – for accurate, regulation-standard lines.
- Cost-effective pricing – from £150 + VAT (subject to travel).
Robotic Mower Costs & Funding Support
The cost of a robotic mower depends on the size of the area:
- £20,000 – Suitable for areas up to 45,000m².
- £30,000 – Suitable for areas between 45,000-75,000m².
To make this investment more accessible, GroundTech works with clubs to apply for funding through the Football Foundation using the Pitch Power app. The funding covers 75% of the total cost, with the remaining 25% spread over three years. For example, a £20,000 mower would require a monthly direct debit payment of approximately £150.
There is an installation fee of £600-£1,000 per mower, depending on site-specific requirements.
Commitment to Grassroots Football
GroundTech is dedicated to supporting local grassroots clubs by providing autonomous mowing and line marking solutions. These technologies, tested and approved by STRI, have been proven to enhance playing surfaces.
Suffolk FA Football Development Manager, Matt Stebbings, shared his thoughts:
“This is a great opportunity for clubs to invest in their grass pitches. Robotic mowers and line markers have the potential to reduce the club’s carbon footprint by moving away from fossil fuels. The aim is to make time-consuming jobs easier for volunteers and give more time back to our clubs. I look forward to seeing more robotic mowers and line markers in action across Suffolk.”
